It can be difficult to sort through the ecosystem of various storage vendors and get deep, technical details on their go-to-market offerings at scale. I mostly find this is due to time constraints, but also the back and forth of scheduling briefings and road maps is usually a non-trivial investment of energy for both you and the vendor. This is part of why I enjoy the Tech Field Day series (Twitter), organized by Stephen Foskett, to be so valuable.
For those just hearing about these, his “Field Day” events are a way to gather a group of subject matter experts and open-minded, independent thinkers (called delegates) into a room with sponsors (vendors) to discuss their technology. The event is almost entirely live streamed and available to view later with no filter, and delegates are not under NDA (non-disclosure agreements). Each Field Day event has a theme, such as Networking, Storage, Wireless, Virtualization, or general Tech.
Storage Field Day 3 Details
The next event scheduled is Storage Field Day 3, which as you may have guessed is the third event of its type, and is running from April 24 thru 26 (Wednesday thru Friday). Join me and 13 other delegates for a three day deep dive into a large collection of interesting storage technologies from a variety of vendors at different stages of their lifecycle. Some are well known and established throughout the market, others are still in start-up mode, and at least one is still in “Secret Company” status and will be revealed at the event.
Field Day events are not a one way street! You can engage live by sending me a Twitter mention (@ChrisWahl) and using the #SFD3 hashtag on Twitter during the event – and I’ll do my best to either respond to your question or ask it aloud at the event. Even if I miss it, there will be many other pairs of eyes (including the vendor) on the hashtag that will try to help.
