In a move that adds an additional emphasis on the importance of an active and engaged social media community, Cisco has joined the growing number of vendors who are providing recognition to individuals who express positive sentiment with their new Cisco Champions for Data Center program. In their words:
The purpose of the Cisco Champions Program is to create and nurture a network of people who are passionate about Cisco and enjoy sharing their knowledge, expertise, and thoughts across the social web and with Cisco. (source)
Assuming you’ve read the program rules and can abide by them, check out this post from Amy Lewis, queen of all things bacon, for additional details and how to nominate yourself or someone else before the October 31st deadline.
I’m glad to see new community evangelist spotlight programs, such as the recently formed EMC Elect program that is spearheaded by Matthew Brender, being made available. The VMware vExpert program, for example, has enjoyed half a decade of growth and success with hundreds of members. Such programs help form a two way relationship between vendors who wish to engage with those active in the community, and also grants individuals a very powerful channel to provide feedback, get questions answered, and understand corporate and technology road maps.
Best of luck to those who are nominated!
