👋 Hello and welcome to my blog!
My name is Chris Wahl and I founded this site in 2010 as a quiet place to write down thoughts on various challenges with little concern over posting schedules and who would actually read what I wrote. To my surprise, over 3 million people actually stumbled upon this site to read my rambling.
I consider this blog to be a sort of “second brain” in which I store learnings in a public database. Sometimes I answer questions from others. Other times I just muse on personal adventures. Having such a huge volume of writing to search across has been tremendously helpful and rewarding. I encourage everyone to do something similar.
These days, I’ve largely been focusing on the art of building a modern enterprise organization. The challenge of building strong and communicative teams is both an interesting and worthy pursuit, and I’ve made enough mistakes here to know how much I don’t know. 🙂
Hiking and World Travel
Before COVID, I used to spend a lot of personal time seeking out long, remote trails to hike and backpack. The escape from electronics and digital overload is a nice relief and something I need to remain sane. Related to this is my passion for world travel and teasing out those little gem experiences that continue to expand my understanding of how we can all get along on this floating orb of wonder. Fortunately, these two hobbies blend well together.
After a decade of constant travel abroad, and largely in part to COVID, I have hung up my traveler hat. I’m very grateful to have viewed, tasted, and walked across so much of the world!
I record my goals to help measure growth and progress and publish them to keep myself honest.
- Be an effective leader and mentor to my peers.
- Be an effective technologist.
- Write carefully and with purpose.
- Live a healthy, balanced lifestyle.
- Spend quality time with family and friends.
Curriculum Vitae (CV)
I’ve worked as a technical professional in a variety of roles since 1999. I received a Bachelor of Science in Network and Communications Management in 2005 and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 2009. The aim was to blend a mixture of technical and business educational investments.
